Decided to add a pick-up to my cheap-ass starter banjo. Used a lapel mic from Radio Shack, and it picks up pretty good. Not exactly a wildly impressive technical feat, but anything looks more impressive when you put it in a montage, right. Can't really play it either but there's a demo of how it sounds at the end.

Amp was a Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue, music from the legendary Ramblin' Jack and Derroll Adams.

  • Yes, it's just tie wrapped and positioned towards the head/neck. I thought it may rotate some once it was in use, but it has held tight. Thanks for watchin'

  • great job man,,,

  • Got the same thing in my banjo. Apparently it's what the Avett Brothers used for years...

  • wat kind of mic is that and were did u get it?

  • Anything special about that mic? Think I can pull it off using an old computer mic?

  • AWESOME

  • nice shirt man, great job!

  • Good stuff, I have the same exact setup. I dig the shirt too!

  • ♪I'll fly away...... Sounds nice man. I like the electric.... I'm about to do that too.

  • Ah, should have watched the entire video, I skipped right away to the last part :). You didn't stick it right?, just aimed it towards the skin near the neck.

  • I like it, also your playing. Where exactly did you stick the pickup? On the skin inside? Close to the bridge or not? Thanks ;)
