This is how to repair your dead Casio Cassiopeia PDA in just 5 Minutes :)

The PDA in the video is the E-105G but this is applicable to all of the following Casio Cassiopeia PDAs:

Cassiopeia E-10 (AFAIK)
Cassiopeia E-11 (AFAIK)
Cassiopeia E-15
Cassiopeia E-100
Cassiopeia E-105
Cassiopeia E-115
Cassiopeia E-125

Cassiopeia E-55 (= Japanese Version of E-15)
Cassiopeia E-5xx (Japanese Versions of the E-1xx Series)

Maybe it's also applicable to the EM-500 and EM-505 ...

  • what did u exactly do? ;/

  • @believixfairy23 took the PDA apart and "cleaned" the contacts of the ROM module (where Windows CE is stored).

The contacts seem to corrode a bit over time -> no proper contact -> dead PDA

But i'd suggest not just blowing at the contacts like i did back then (video is 3+ years old) lol

Cleaning them properly with q-tips/cotton swabs and isopropyl alcohol is a much better idea ;)

(in a pinch, nail polish remover works too..)

  • saw this video today as i was trying to repair my "dead" e-100 which i haven't used for ages. anyway, i'll try hooking in the external batteries and see if that turns on the gadget. thanks.

  • np ;)

don't forget the ROM Module though.

a few months ago, my E-105 (the one in this video) didn't turn on again..

this time though, i cleaned the contacts on the module and the main PCB properly with a contact cleaner.

(instead of just blowing onto the contacts lol)

    works fine :o)

  • I have a E-125 and I figured out why the screen back light won't stay on unless you knock the unit around. The ribbon down by the battery is connected to a small white plug with two tiny metal ends and a small flat pronged plug. Well there is a bad connection from the plug to the board. Soldered the ends but if I push my finger nail down on the the small prong plug that goes flat against the board the unit lights up but I don't think I can get solder down in there for good contact...?????

  • i hope you didn't remove the backupbattery yet.

otherwise your important stuff will be gone (if it's not saved onto the CF card.. in that case you could just use a cardreader..)

  • I'm not sure if I wanna risk it. I think I'm going to see if I can find a new battery either original or a copy or build a battery using the old housing and just change the cells. I have some important stuff on the PDA so I don't want to risk burning the memory.
