  • What a charming sound it produces!

I am currently building a mini-clavichord. How did you determine what it's compass should/could be when you planned it out? Was it determined by the kind of songs you wished to play, physical limitations of the instrument, or some established standard?

Thank you. And once again, marvelous job!

  • @mercoid

    Thank you!

We just used the compass of the Miniature Virginal by Francesco Vanini. We wanted to build this instrument before but than we decided to build the instrument after our own plans.

  • wath's the name of the piece ?

  • @giu13pet

You can see it in the video description:

    1. piece: "Aria Sopra la Bergamasca" (1642) by Marco Uccellini

    2. piece: "Bid Me To Live" by Henry Lawes

  • >>cont. I love the keyboard literature spanning the the 15th through 18th centuries, but don't think I'll ever be able to play any of it.

I love the emotionally, intellectually sophisticated music when expressed well on an "earthy", almost crude instrument. It almost emphasizes how the instrument hardly matters when the heart felt interpretation is employed. Too many ppl are "snobs" when it comes to early instruments.

    Many thanks for your response!

  • @cembalo95 A bold decision, going on your own plans. You should be proud it worked out so well.

I am not expecting so much from my clavichord build. I only hope that it fulfills the the most basic requirements of a clavichord and produces the sound it should. then maybe I'll move on to building a more proper one.

I am very much a beginner musician, only having started piano lessons last year and having no innate musical talent. ...cont>>
