Demonstration of a hummingbird pipe.

I was asked to make this for a woman who is dying from MS. I was told of her love for hummingbirds and created this on the spot. She also wanted to watch it being made. Unable to set up my torch in her home, i decided next best thing was to capture it all on video.
I decided to share it with you all. I'm sorry there is no commentary or description of what I'm doing. This video was made for the sole purpose of capturing it for her.

  • I just noticed how many views I've gotten on this video.

    Thanks for watching!

I have new videos up now!

  • Um sorry to say it but the vid is kind of boring you should show or say what your doing to make it more interesting as I spent the entire time going "What is he doing" . Also im interested in learning how to blow glass pipes and accesories for smoking tools what do you think I should start with as far as education ?

  • @xaviermockingbird sorry it took this long to respond! These first videos i've posted of my glass works are just for demo purposes! Plus, it was videotaped for the person receiving the hummingbird so they could keep for themselves. I only decided to share with all of you!

If you'd like to learn glass pipes, then you need to learn lampworking with borosilicate glass, also mistakenly known as Pyrex, pyrex is a brand name.

I teach for only $30 an hour which is way affordable compared to most.

  • this is the nortel mid right?

  • @solidifiedpaint This is the major with a National top torch.

  • @arghPeteyPirate i don't keep secrets! Glass is an art form many just don't know how to get into. I do teach in Albuquerque New Mexico if you're interested!

And the torch i used here is the Major torch with a national top torch, or a surface mix with a premix. It costs around $400.

  • glassblowing is a secret. that would ruin it

  • some torches go up over 10 thousand... I think the GTT python is the biggest art torch out there. for a starter I would get a nortel mid and big oxy tank.

  • some torches costs around $100 and some are over $2000 just for the torch alone. Kilns start around $300 for small ones. beads and things. you only need the smaller equip at first.

But once you learn more advanced techniques, then you would want bigger and better. More efficient for mass production.

This is Borosilicate glass work. not soft glass. whole diff set up.
