Lungren (R-Gold River-CA):
"Thank you very much, Mr. Speaker. The polls show the democrats are in trouble because every time that happens social security is pulled out of the back pocket. Republicans are going to destroy social security. This party is the only party that saves social security.

"Democrats must be behind in the polls because they are pulling up George W. Bush. I have looked all over the campus, I can't find him. I went down to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. He left!

"Maybe you folks didn't notice. President Obama is there. What a real shame it is that current democrats are running away from the democratic party of J.F.K.

"He told us, forget about class warfare. A rising tide lifts all boats.

"Maybe you ought to listen to some of those on your side who didn't talk about fear but talked about hope."

  • That's right Democrats, be very fearful and run!

  • Dr. Ami Bera 2010. Oh I forgot, because of his name in a right wing surrounding, he won't win. Here come the threats and scare tactics from Lungren and his staff.

  • John, you need to get out more and mingle with people. You seem very bitter.

  • Keep up the Good Work!, Dan.

Help to educate the Majority party until they become the Minority party.

  • @ebbrauer You are a Yellow Dog Democrat and Reed is not exactly a bastion of PS or Economics. In fact, it is a liberal ghetto. Study government rather than regurgitate answers for some prof. The Speaker of the House controls spending. Newt Gingrich brought surpluses. Dennis Hastert was praised by Nancy Pelosi for his increases in entitlements. Since H.Res.6 in 2007, Chairwoman Pelosi has managed to double our deficit and our joblessness by choaking the economy with gov. waste, fraud, and abuse.

  • @JohnLloydScharf Sing it sister -- you are a dyed in the wool Rep. I am a dyed in the wool Dem. But, as you say, don't presume to lecture me on politics, economics or history.

Reps hold the record for deficit spending. History bears this out. You cannot change the numbers.

From one Oregonian to another, you are certainly entitled to your opinion. But I would find another rep to cozy up to -- how about Bachman?

Reed, 1987, Political Science and Economics

  • @ebbrauer You must be a Democrat if you rate the performance of a representative by how much they can tax, borrow, waste, spend, and otherwise abuse the wealth of the US and the consent of the governed. If you actually listened to JFKs speeches on economics, he was a supply sider ratther than believing in spending your way into more employment.

  • Lungren is a loser. Look at his voting record - this man wouldn't vote to help his constituents if our lives depended on his support (e.g., last extension of UI which he voted against). Lungren complains, whines, says no and no again, and evokes the name of JFK as if he knew the guy. LOL. Lungren is certainly no JFK, nor is he even a Reagan or a Bush. Hell, I would take Nixon as my rep at this point if he were still alive. Anyone is better than Lungren.

  • I suppose instead of saying "There's a Devil behind every Bush" - - because, of course, Democrats are too "sophisticated" to believe in the Devil - - they say "There's a BUSH behind every bush!" :0)
