AWA rematch 1of2 Greg Gagne(c) vs Adrian Adonis wOrton 1988
Greg Gagne is a former professional wrestler and is the son of the legendary Verne Gagne. The pushes he received while working for his father often led to claims of nepotism. Gagne defeated Adrian Adonis in a tournament to be crowned the first TV champion.
Adonis was killed on July 4, 1988 in Lewisporte, Newfoundland and Labrador while riding in a minivan with fellow wrestlers William "Mike Kelly" Arko, Victor "Pat Kelly" Arko, and Dave "Wildman" McKigney. Adonis, McKigney and Pat Kelly were killed when the driver, Mike Kelly, allegedly swerved in order to avoid hitting a moose and, blinded by the setting sun, inadvertedly drove into a lake. Mike Kelly survived, albeit with severe leg injuries. Adonis was tag team champs with Jesse Ventura,Black Gordman,Roddy Piper, Ron Star,Dick Murdoch, and he was named most improved wrestler in 1981,most underrated in 1982.

  • This was a pretty good match, even though Greg Gagne being pushed as a main eventer was pretty silly because he was so skinny. Seemed to be a pretty solid worker though, when you're the son of the guy who trained Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat, you better be able to work a match! I know the AWA was in its decline by this time, but I miss wrestling like this so much compared to the garbage today. When kayfabe died, wrestling died IMO

  • as big as he got, he was still suprisingly agile. I used to enjoy his upside down flip when he was thrown into the turnbucle.

  • I remember watching this match when it first aired, and since I didn't understand how a bodyslam worked back then, I was really impressed when Adonis went up for Gagne. Adonis was a really good worker, even with all the extra weight later on.

  • Greg was a good tag team wrestler. But not main event material

  • @mr10tomidnight wow... grow up and quit staring at the man's package maybe

  • Actually, Roderick is not even my favorite wrestler, I chose this name because BryanDanielson, and AmericanDragon were already taken, ha

  • @RoderickStrong this coming from a roderick strong fan lmfao

  • All FAKE

  • augh,,,, when orton starts massaging the luscious one.. augh.... i shot a huge load... augh.. both of them adored each other.... big hot ring homos..... aughyeah

  • Hey, my friend bought a car from the auto dealership that Greg Gagne now manages

  • I met Greg Gagne several times because my brother played baseball with his son Pete Gagne. His son is awesome, full of piss and vinegar just like his dad was. Did anybody hear about Gagne's dad, Vern Gagne. At an old folks home some 97 yr old man was "mouthing off", so Vern got into an altercation with him and killed the old man by body slamming him or something. The police aren't sure whether to charge him because Vern Gagne has altzeimers. Anyways, I just think its cool, I met Greg many times

  • totally agree with you ! even tho the AWA was heading down hill this is still better than most of the junk floating around todays wrestling rings
