A lighthearted look at my homemade single-wheel bike trailer. While loosely patterned after the commercially available "BOB", this trailer is entirely my own design and was built entirely with odds &

great trailer! is that bike fork hitch just bolted on to it? I'm trying to make something similar but for a number of dif sized bikes that can easily come on and off like the bob, but more simple is the hope... also how did you fasten the vinyl so well/tight underneath?

Thanks! Both bikes shown in this video have 2 threaded holes from the factory in the rear metal pc that the axle bolts to. The bolts that fit these holes were too small to use for the trailer connection, so I fabbed-up the "drop-plates" (as seen at 2:38 & 2:44.) These plates each have a 3/8" nut welded to them, so I can use a 3/8" hardened smooth-shank bolt for the trailer connection. If you want to use it on different bikes, you might want to look at an axle connection like the BOB.

The vinyl is stretched across the top of the frame and wraps around to the underside, where I folded it over and used short self-tapping screws to screw it to the frame tube. I've used it heavily and have carried a lot of weight over a lot of bumps, and it still looks as tight as the first day. I think this is a great light weight solution.
