Make the war an election issue!
April 9, 2011
Pan-Canadian Day of Action to End the war in Afghanistan

http://www.acp-cpa.ca/
http://www.afghansforpeace.org/

Late last year, the Harper Government, with the help of the Liberals, extended Canada's troop deployment to Afghanistan for another 3 years. Both parties know that the extension is deeply unpopular with Canadians which is why neither leader has spoken about the issue during the election campaign. We, in the peace movement need to challenge the party leaders and hold them to account for this decision.

Vancouver
People Power, Not War!
Part of a Pan-Canadian Day of Action to End the war in Afghanistan

Every Saturday since January, Vancouver has seen solidarity rallies outside the downtown public library, in support of the uprisings in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and many other countries in the region. Now People Power is spreading beyond North Africa and the Middle East and it's capturing the world's imagination.
Let's help make April 9 a show of People Power across Canada - our own Day of Dissent!

Spread the word and make plans to join us:
Saturday, April 9, starting at 1pm
outside Vancouver Public Library downtown (tentative location, details to be confirmed soon)

  • You should be more supportive of your soldiers in Afghanistan and the sacrifice that they have and continue to give. They fight for a more than worthy cause and no war comes without its atrocities. I am not saying all the terrible things mentioned in this video are the right thing to do and way to behave however consider what some of your boys have gone through. Also consider the face that the enemy can and would do much worse to you given the opportunity.

  • @ScrewdriversUndone With all due respect, this video clearly shows a very thoughtful Afghan-Canadian approach to the whole issue. Soldiers are not vilified, but the actions and approach of NATO are criticized. The war has been a disaster and the power of the Taliban and fundamentalist entities have grown. The U.S., Canada and NATO have not hesitated in bombing civilians targets or arming vicious and misogynist war loads. Many soldiers question the war and are glad to be coming home.

  • I don't want to sound harsh but the soldiers supporting this ugly war are as bad as the leaders. They are bombing and killing children everyday, guarding poppy fields, taking their oil, raping their women and taking their freedom for the profit the scumbags thats causing this war. If people didn't support these scumbags there will be no war period. I don't feel sorry for these soldiers I feel sorry for the people killed by them and I hope every soldier will go against this damn war.

  • We care about our soldiers not being USED as DOGS by the ILLEGAL War Mongers of the New World Order- that is more supportive than apathy - Learn Logic - The Trivium Method

  • Who wouldn't be glad to come home, I think it's safe to say all veterans of all wars are glad to go home and that shouldn't have anything to do with it. And this is WAR not a dinner party or something so you can't expect it's going to be easy.

  • Matthew5:9 - Blessed are the Peacemakers: For they shall be called the children of God.

  • SHARED! Excellent video, thanks for posting.
