The operating system is Linux... I'm not sure what one seeing there are 100's of Linux distributions...
Linux ubuntu and Linux Mint are the big ones right now, and they are all free and come with "compiz fusion" they have the coolest desktop effects ever made.
I take that back there are maybe one or two that are not free like Red Hat.
