great idea :) but hopefully the final submissions will be animated and not just a collection of people running bad after effects "sketch" filters over the original video - which would be royally lame. I would have loved to participate myself, but just found out about it and dont have the time before the 12th to do so...
good luck tho!

I can totally agree with photonstudios.
I honestly get nauseous whenever I see an overuse of After-Effects filters used on anything, especially on a classic movie such as this. We can only hope that more people find out about this and actually DO some animations. Personally, it would have been awesome to find out about this earlier because I would have loved to help.

Everything was going pretty well until Barbie & Ken showed up. The plastic dolls gotta go, as for everything else....not too bad.

Good to hear because I agree with mega99916... I'm just an amateur video editor and even I know how to download neat plug-ins and apply them to a piece of footage...

Good to hear, Mike :)
imo its a great cause & idea, but instead of setting up and portraying the creepiness & spookiness of a good horror film the viewers are coursed through different art styles and are interpreting the style/ whats going on, instead of becoming engulfed in the horror. It looks great for its artistic value, but not as a horror film

I agree on this point. Even though it is basically the same film the change in approach appeals to different senses. This is much more of the art house approach then the grind house aesthetic. I think if looking for a solid horror film then Romero's original is a tried and true classic. If you are looking for the genre to take on a different direction, that this film is a solid spring board into a more experimental and artistic approaches to media.

Some of those clips where "cartoonified" using a simple tool in Adobe After Effects, and the use of the tool wasn't very good either. Really fun project, but I sure hope they dont use crappy "cartoonized" footage.

From the description which came from the person who submitted the lower frame rate 'cartoonized' footage... it's in a step process to be rotoscoped.
So no worries... it's not by any stretch of the imagination the final word on those clips. Plus after the time line is completely replaced with new footage, it will be opened to a challenging stage where everyone will have a chance to submit alternative versions of any scenes they feel they can do better.
