what about taping foil or some reflective stickers in the compartment? I haven't tried it and wonder if it works...

@calvinckbe1 That probably would work, I'm not sure if it would be too extreme though. I might give it a try :)

does this mean that I could use a 35mm colored or b/w film without using the masks and still get light leaks and sprocket holes as well? thanks for the help.

Yes it does. If you use 35mm you should see the same light leaks and crazyness that you get with the 120 film. And yes, you will expose the sprocket holes if you don't use a mask.

Do you have to you use the 12 6x6 format with out the mask, or can you use the 16 pictures format?...sorry if that seems like a daft question lol

so...what does it do exactly? sorry i dont know any of this. im getting a holga soon so im looking up different tricks and such. what are light leaks? do they make the pictures lighter or something?
