I agree with you on this .Agalloch's song on here is depressing. Kind of makes me feel lonely and abandoned in a raining and burning forest...

This is art, not some fuckin emos dancing and screaming around this type of music is meant for people who still know art in a world ruled by mtv and plastic pop stars

Depressing? No. Moving and heartfelt? Yes.

While I agree with Agalloch's placement on here, because it was intended to destroy hope of a happy-ish ending like the mantle, it really lacks a lot of the punch taken out of context. Especially the first part of the song, completely devoid of vocals, and then the build-up to that section in the second part, it makes it hit a lot harder.
I'm not sure how the mantle had a happy-ish ending, but that is what I read the intention was in an interview either with Don and JWW or just Don.

@sociopathicregret That may be, but it does not call for depression as the other songs in the list. Well, at least that's what guys from Agalloch say :) Anyway, great list you've got there, all 5 vids included :)
Can't agree on that Draconians song The Cry of Silence is a very depressing song. It's more about embracing the loneliness and not see it as a depressing part of life, more like a chance to find your self. Quote out of the lyrics of that song:
"I am truly left alone,
but somehow... just somehow
it feels like my loneliness is a victory
over the self-delusion of joy... and happiness."

@sociopathicregret Well....I can't say that I agree with you on that one, but it is definatelly you'r interpretation of the songs, and it is every ones own interpretation of any art work, including this one, that is the right one. So you are totally right to think so. Although, that not what I think.

Seriously, Agalloch is not depressing at all. They're not about personal losses, but the losses all of humanity faces, things mankind needs to change, save nature, save life. It's not supposed to be depressing, but to make you act and make the world a better place.
