Emprical or Empericism is how I debate with people - In practice, the accumulation of evidence based on academic rigor and peer reviewed science, papers, journals by the top scholars of the world for judging the merits of research.

Our modern world cannot afford to rely on fanatics or fanaticism when it comes to progress and safety of the human race.




Fanaticism is an emotion of being filled with excessive, uncritical zeal, particularly for an extreme religious or political cause. Philosopher George Santayana defines fanaticism as "redoubling your effort when you have forgotten your aim"; according to Winston Churchill, "A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject". By either description the fanatic displays very strict standards and little tolerance for contrary ideas or opinions. I.E., Religious fundamentalist dogma.

Philosophy is a subject that I am open to discuss with people, because it relies on reasoned argument not superstition or supernatural beliefs.

Philosophy only concerns matters such as existence, knowledge, truth, beauty, law, justice, validity, mind, and language. It has nothing to do with mysticism or the supernatural. The word is of Greek origin: φιλοσοφία, philos and sophos, "love of wisdom."

Peer review is a necessary but not sufficient condition for establishing the validity of any scientific topic. The clinical trial process that regulated drugs go through is significantly more rigorous than the bar for getting research published in a scholastic journal.

It would help if you'd give me an example of the kind of rememdy you're talking about--it doesn't have to be whatever was relevant to your condition.

I would just say one thing about natural remedies:

Supposing you're correct and they operate in a way conventional science is unable to explain, they can still be tested. Even if you had no idea how antibiotics interacted with bacteria, you could easily set up a double-blind test with pill A (antibiotic) and pill B (control-sugar pill)and notice a massive difference in results.

Every time this is attempted with "natural" remedies they do no better than the control.

That's called selective breeding, we use it with Cats, dogs, rabbits and almost any animal we use as pets to get the best suitable thing for that dog's job.

as for the religious point of view, I would see no harm in it if it were not for the blatant hate & ignorance that it creates in the minds of those indoctrinated by the "good" book. how people are suckered in is both sad & frightening.. to worship a god that will destroy you for not is beyond me! sigh. I was raised in this type of home so I have first hand experience w/the nonsense.

um, it is said (& I believe) that the plants speak & this is how it came to be known of their many uses.

can it be proven that fairies exist or ETs? many folks have seen both.. one cannot tie these creatures down for analysis to prove they do exist, so now what? those folks are crazy?

I guess my point is that NOT ALL things in this experience we call life are easily or able to be explained from a scientific viewpoint..

hi again :) for the record, I do not put a great deal of respect in the "peer review" as the only way to prove something is what it is.. as with health for instance. it is my understanding that science (or is it the government?) has little interest in providing testing for natural means of healing as healthy or helpful to ones own immune function.. which to me is very sad, considering that many of the wisdom in plant medicine are ancient, tested, and proven, through there use.
