Hi y'all! So you thought you'd finally gotten rid of me, huh? Well, bust my breeches and whatta ya know, here I am again, fresh as apple pie and
good as new (stop laughing and let me suck on that one for at least a little while, will ya, cause it sounded too good to dismiss, lol!). So without further babbling, let's get down to the real nitty gritty & get some rockin' goin' on here (I've got more than this one comin' up for ya in just awhile, so keep the safety belts on, for goodness sake!)). First off...here's the ORIGINAL version of "The King Of Rock'n Roll", without the extra added drums and other garbage that I added in a state of mental confusion (?) in the disco drenched mid '80s and which you've no doubt have already spotted somewhere else here on YT, uploaded by my good friend Jesper (peps088). The version here though is the REAL scaled down one the way it sounded after completion some time back in the glorious happy-go-lucky moments I used to have in the late part of the '70s (those were the days, sigh!). The drums you might be able to recognise here is in fact a sheet of cardboard box taped onto a snare drum (didn't I say I was in a 'mental state of confusion', huh?!). And the mysteries sounding solo in the last verse is NOT a synth, but my beloved Gretsch (long gone now but not forgotten, sob, sob!) running through a pitch shifting device of some obscure origin (possibly an Electro Harmonix pedal). And as you can tell from the pics used, the entire video is more or less a pictorial life story of my career from the very beginning up until the early '80s, when I sold my studio and quit the music business altogether for app. 8 years and started shifting jobs like you ain't heard nuthin' yet (just about anything from a turner..to a genitar..to a workshop mechanic..to a sound engineer..to a..you name it!)! Started getting my senses back though in '92, when my son nagged me down for an electric Washburn guitar and a Marshall amp to boot. The rest is history, as they say. That's about it..straight forward..and no freakin' high tech crap in sight! Let's step on it...
P.S. Oh yes, it just hit me that perhaps I ought to mention another thing about this song that's been buggin' me for years, even though it hurts! Most of you that knows your rock'n roll history, especially in the form of a certain Memphis Flash, has obviously (and I hate to admit this!) spotted my big goof lyric wise in the beginning of verse 2....quote: "Started out way back in '55 to a crazy rhythm with a slapback jive"! This was, believe it or not, down right intentional as I for my world couldn't manage to come up with a line appropriate enough to rhyme with 'jive'! Everybody with their rock'n roll senses intact are, naturally, aware of the fact that Elvis was doin' his stuff already way back in '53, when he cut his first private acetate demos for Sam (not exactly rock'n roll, but nevertheless...) and that he had his first SUN single out on the counters in '54! So...even though I was fully aware of this when I wrote this piece, I let it all slip away and hoped nobody would notice it! And, guess what, nobody has...yet...so here's your chance, lol! D.S.

@Rickugg Hey! Just for the record (and in case you've lost your hearing aids, lol!), the track is all about a certain Mama Presley's Boy from Tupelo! And if you're more into 'Hillbilly' Haley I can understand if stuff like this is too fast for ya, I had a heck of a time recording it, but I like my stuff fast and furious even though it's quite a job playing all the instruments, plus doing the vocal bit, plus handling the production as well as the sound engineering.
