In our latest episode we met up with Darrin Slade, principal of Ron Brown Middle School, to see how he was coping with the influx of students that doubled the number of students he's responsible for.

Principal Slade may be "the right person" for the job now, but if test scores dont increase by the end of the year, he might lose his job.Tune into The NewsHour tonight to find out if Principal Slade's efforts will be enough.

  • @islanboy808 Ill-equiped? are you serious? how much resources does it take to pass on good morality?? how much money and equipment do you need to teach your kids not to join gangs, kill their peers, and to value their lives enough to get an education? That's free! Vietnamese, Indian, and Hispanic children are all very poor and have enough common sense to know that these are all good values! american culture? that's just shirking responsibility for lazy parents who should have ultimate influence

  • @theherdmentality dysfunction.. not function. "very" specifically? lol. the dysfunction you're referring to (violence, lack of work ethic, etc. and the fact that parent's of kids with these characteristics are ill-equipped to teach values to their kids EFFECTIVELY--the majority of the people we're talking about convey the importance of these morals to their children, but its not effective) is a result of racist idiots (like you) and big flaws in AMERICAN culture (largely due to idiots like you)

  • @islanboy808 I"m the product of a school system that has taught me that the kind of "bread" you were talking about int he comment you removed is actually supposed to be spelled "bred" as in breeding, not bread as in the food, you moron. No race is born with these values., they learn them from their parents. The truth is that black parents are absent and now want everyone else, esp. teachers, to do their job for them, and they think more money will help, but it NEVER does,

  • @islanboy808 It's not a funcion of AMerican culture, it's very specifically a black problem. Other cultures and races, including africans, come here and don't have to be told to work hard, treat other people well, don't kill your neighbors, etc. and that's because their culture is different.I bet other countries laugh at how black children can't learn because they're too busy trying to kill each other and no one in their home has told them to work hard and value education.

  • @theherdmentality You're right! That culture is a problem and should be changed, but it's NOT a dysfunction of 'black' culture. It's a dysfunction of AMERICAN culture. You're ignorant, and you're a product of our dysfunctional school system

  • black culture is the true problem. black kids should not have to have it imposed on them to work hard, not steal and not be a menace to society. this should be built into their culture and come from their parents. black culture glorifies a lack of education, violence, promiscuity, etc. and that's the REAL problem that no one is talking about
