Live on the 16th of February, 2011, at the Open Society Archives (OSA), Hungary, Budapest. David E. McCraw is the Vice President and Assistant General Councel of the New York Times Company. He represented the newspaper in legal cases and advised lots of other news corporations. He has served as a consultant to the drafters of freedom-of-information laws in Yemen and Kuwait. He gave a general approach to the Hungarian audience on the subject of the Wikileaks fenomenon and the freedom of information.

Litigation attorney for The Times, The Boston Globe, and the Company's other media and Internet properties, including nine broadcast stations, The International Herald Tribune, 15 regional newspapers, and About.com. Duties include litigating commercial disputes, libel cases, and reporter-access issues; supervising outside counsel in wide range lawsuits, both in the U.S. and internationally, including patent, contract, employee benefits, intellectual property, and libel matters; advising business units on legal matters; providing pre-publication review of articles nad scripts; conducting internal isvestigations in employment matters.
