Rashida Jolley, Singer/Harpist/Songwriter is a unique and truly gifted artist. She spent the past year on a world tour with international mega star Lady Gaga. Jolley is taking the music industry by storm with an innovative sound and a soulful voice that stirs a crowd. She fuses various elements of R&B, Classical, Pop and Hip-Hop music together to create a melodic and creative ground-breaking style that is all her own. Jolley also covers a plethora of songs from artists such as Stevie Wonder, Lauryn Hill, Luther Vandross, Eric Clapton, and classical musicians such as Mozart and Beethoven.
From childhood, people could see Rashida was musically inclined. She began singing lead in her church choir at age 7 and studying the harp at the DC Youth Orchestra at age 10. It was her mother's idea to combine her vocal stylings with the harp. That is where Rashida found her niche. She began composing songs on the harp and creating her own sound. Rashida Jolley is set apart from other entertainers in the way she blends classical, hip-hop, R&B, and pop stylings together while singing and playing the harp. Her powerful, yet melodious, voice is a fusion of Alicia Keys, Lauryn Hill and Toni Braxton.
Rashida's father, the late Noble Jolley Sr., a renowned jazz guitarist, earned Howard University's first degree in Jazz Studies. He mentored Rashida and her six siblings in music and in performance. Rashida also performs with two of her brothers, Nathan and Noble Jolley, Jr., well-known and fiercely talented musicians and producers.
In addition to her career as a professional singer and harpist, Rashida has a dual career as a motivational speaker. Rashida travels across the country inspiring youth to follow their dreams, no matter what the odds. She represented the District of Columbia at the Miss America Pageant and appeared on NBC's hit show "America's Got Talent," where she quickly became a fan favorite, receiving standing ovations for every performance. Rashida has opened up for John Legend, and received accolades for her performance at the Ludacris Foundation's Tribute to Quincy Jones. Rashida also received accolades for the stunning red Jovani gown she wore and the designer subsequently named it the "Jovani Rashida Jolley Gown." She appears on the Jovani website catalog's celebrity page along with Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood.
Rashida appears in the HBO Documentary "HBO Presents Lady Gaga in The Monster Ball Tour at Madison Square Garden." In addition, Rashida has appeared on The Ellen Show, The Today Show, Mo'Nique, NBC, FOX 5, WJLA 7, BET, MTV, BELGIUM TV, GERMAN TV, and E! CABLE Television Network; and in print Rashida recently graced the cover of On Tap Magazine, and has been featured in Glamour Magazine, Ebony Magazine, Sister to Sister Magazine, US Weekly Magazine, Uptown Magazine, The Washington Post and The Washington Times newspapers. Her radio interviews include Radio One, 93.9 WKYS, and Voice of America among others.
