The 'moral problem' Richard Wagner had with Cosi could easily have been fixed-- if the girls had immediately noticed their fiances in disquise and played along. But Lorenzo da Ponte didn't conceive of that notion. Nor would it have changed the outcome of the opera. But it might have made the ladies of Cosi look alot less gullible.
