A simple guitar instrumental from "Ellis' Thorough School for the Six or Seven- Stringed Banjo", played on a National resonator guitar through a 1940s amp. Tune is from 1865-1890, probably.

http://soupgreens.com/2009/12/31/bumper-breakdown-from-thorough-school/ for a blog entry with MP3, Vorbis, FLAC, sheet music, and clips for bumpers and ring tones.

In the public domain, or any Creatiive Commons license you want, or Gnu Free Documentation License, or whatever license you want. Knock yourself out.

The pickup was an aftermarket National Lace, same model as this but without the National logo on the cover: http://www.ellisguitars.com/National_Lace_Pickups.html . It has a very natural sound which I like. But it's actually a bit high, even though it's really thin in comparison to other pickups, so the strings bottom out on the pickup starting around the 12th fret.

  • Love those little tunes!

  • Thanks for stopping by, daddystovepipe.

This little tune is a lot of fun. It feels like an Ogden Nash poem, e.g. "Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker."
