with less than a minute remaining, Jonny Wilkinson calmly slotted this magnificent drop goal to secure Englands place in rugby history. Amazing.

  • Martin Johnson was about as close to crying as you will ever see outside of his family affairs at the final whistle. Great day, great tournament, greatest England team ever. Cheers Oz.

  • I remember sitting watching this and thinking we were going to lose in extra time ( When does England win anything after the final whistle ) and then we scored and I went mental, never been so happy.

  • I want this video on my E65 phone.

  • Jonny Wilkinson was no match for Carter in the 2005 Lions tour. Since then he has gone on to eclipse everything that Jonny ever achieved. But thanks for the vote of confidence in us winning the RWC this time. I was beginning to question why we go into every RWC as favourites. Then I remembered it must be our aura. Something the England team can only ever dream of capturing.

  • @eddyd63 haha, also im not trying to crow about anything, it is you who is making wild sweeping statements about the 'Mighty All Blacks', you clearly dont like seeing a reasoned argument for jonny wilkinson being an excellent player who is able to match up to dan carter. you are clearly very blinkered, however as a new zealand supporter that must be expected. you might like this video depicting the mighty all blacks' deserved win in the world cup this year

  • @stevenbissett correction, there was no irb world rankings until the month before the 2003 world cup. however seeing as england didnt lose a match against any of the southern hemisphere teams between 2000-2003, i would say yes, they were the best team in the world at that time

  • @stevenbissett isnt it just so convenient that carter has played in the best team in the world for most of his career though. your absolutely right, wilkinson drops for goal because england havnt at times been able to exert the same pressure, however sometimes he has because its an easy 3 points for him

  • @eddyd63 Correction - You were the best team in the world from November 2002 to winning the WRC the following year. My goodness, even the greatest player of all time was still playing for the Mighty All Blacks back in 2000. Since being ranked no.1 by the IRB in 2003 your world ranking has slipped to as low as eighth. Have a crow about that.

  • @eddyd63 Carter doesn't drop goals because the Mighty All Blacks back themselves to score tries or force their opponents to give away penalities when inside their 22. England quite often are unable to apply the same pressure hence attempt the drop goal. Doesn't mean Wilkinson is better than Carter at drop goals. It took Wilkinson three attempts to land a drop goal in the 2003 RWC final did it not? Something that is quite often overlooked by England rugby fans.

  • @stevenbissett between 2000-2003 england were the best team in the world, beating new zealand home and away

  • @stevenbissett the tactics of the different teams have reflected that, although yes carter is more of a running 10 and wilkinson is much better at drop goals. i dont see why that is a reason to believe hes a far better player. not much to write home about, after a succession of near career ending injuries, he reached another world cup final.

  • @eddyd63 Oh and the Mighty All Blacks have been the best team in the world for far longer than the last 8 years. Many nations including Ireland, Argentina, and Scotland have never beaten them.
