READ DESCRIPTION :D
Alrigh, so basically, this video was recorded using a headset, and I screwed up the settings somehow and all audio is just gone. So, I did my best to explain it in text, and put music so it isn't totally boring.
But you care about the Generator, right? Right. So basically, this is a type of light sensor. The light sensor and bud switch it requires were both invented by Etho, of Ethoslab here on youtube. This is the design I created, however, for the purpose of generating random redstone outputs. This is possible because of the fact that grass grows at such random rates. Admittedly, just one is quite slow. Line them up though, as I show in the video, and it works pretty well when there's more of them.
Now, as far a I know, I'm the only one I've heard of to use this for this purpose. However, I do not claim that for sure, and if anyone has already done this, it is not meant to steal their glory, but merely to get an idea out there.

I dont get it. So the water is always there, or is there a piston to shut it off?
and when the glowstone is visible, it makes grass, but when you shut it off, it kills the grass? And doesnt have anything to do with the time of day, correct?
Never the less, great contraption!

@nerferfan Right, there's a normal piston, that when extended the arm is directly under the water source to block it. The light and the water alternate according to the state of the bud switch, so either the light is on to make grass, or the water is on to kill it, never both. Also correct that there is no influence from the time of day, because the light sensing chamber is entirely sealed off from sunlight(or any other form of light).
Also, thanks :D
