The only problem I have with that idea is, that is what Genesis did when Peter Gabriel(Lead Vocals) left for a solo career and, Phil Collins(Drums) took over lead vocals. It would seem a lot like what Genesis did.
At the same time, Deen does have the pipes to keep that sound.

I dont understand these guys. They have become a characture of themselves. And that is fine with me. Theres a guy in a tribute band called Evolution they should get. Or "HEY GUYS THIS GUY IS IN THE BAND ALREADY!" Now go get a drummer.

i truly believe that Journey NEEDS a frontman because of past success but i think that Deen's voice is so good that they can 'cheat' a little. They could do without a 'lead' singer and have Deen do it because he obviously has the vocal capability!

that's a wonderful sentiment, and I love Perry too, but he doesn't have his voice anymore. I think they should either have Deen as front man or stop calling themselves Journey. I LOVE Journey but it's not Journey without the voice!!

This is so beautiful....Deen is the only one I've heard do this song at the level it should be. This song is for STeve Perry's voice, and Deen is the closest I've EVER heard to that sound and quality. I wish he would sing lead now for Journey, otherwise they should just hang it up.

Another thing I thought of in this video, while Deen is astounding on Lead Vocals, it makes Neal(Schon), Jonathan(Cain) and, Ross(Valory) just seem like 'extras', instead of actually being members of the band.
