@clcjr that, and his ability to tell truely amazing stories inside of his songs. thatss what made me fall in love with his music because he could weave stories, the preacher kept preaching.

Hallejuah, now pass those greasy biscuits

Can't tell you how many times knowing this song has helped me get through the grief at the loss of a loved one and the funeral or memorial service. In my experience generally after the service there is some sort of reception or meal, things lighten up some, the stories begin, a lot like the story this song tells. Thanks Lyle.

Geepereet,
Dude, you don't know what you are talking about. I can't believe that you would even mention Gentle Giant and Genesis after calling Lyle Lovett simplistic. Dude, his melodies and lyrical ability are stunning.
-
thanks for posting Lyle
PURE LYLE - how can you say this is simplistic?!? With a few notes, the depth of emotion, history, and music is conveyed tothe listener.

I don't think you understood what I'm telling about this music, I like it really a lot but compared with a lot of my other favorit music, jazz-jazzrock-funkrock or technorock, Gentle Giant, Genesis, Pat Metheny etc, is this totally different in construction which I described as 'not that complicated' but appreciated too and with respect.
