Respect all languages including ASL. People who belittle any language have no respect for people who create their own language. All languages have their own unique rules and grammars. No language is perfect

Your example of "parkway" and "driveway" usage in English was a good one! I never thought about that one. =]

It is all about respecting a language regardless it is not spoken. It is not acceptable to look down natural signed language such as ASL and when one does that, especially who is a member of the Deaf community, it drags down the status of equality of this person and signing Deaf people. Just made a vlog about this and then saw yours as I could see how our vlogs parallel with the message. Good vlog!

@avbria Hi Barb, yes I agree with you and I am going to leave my message on yours in a moment.

EXCELLENT!
One point of clarification about your "man walking between the tree and the house" example. English CAN provide that information, but it takes MUCH more work and time to do it than it does for ASL. ASL is developed for the spatial modality, and therefore takes advantage of that modality to express spatial information much more clearly and quickly.
DrDonGCSUS 10 months ago
@DrDonGCSUS Yes I agree but English language cannot produce 3D environment in visual language. However, English has its own uniqueness as well. All languages are distinct and unique languages. Any person who degrade or look down any language are bringing unhealthy dialogue to the society. That is horrible and destructive.

You make us a feel better what you thought of ASL FAILED which is not true. ASL is considering poweerful language and serect to help Deaf people learn the English language better in writing.

@LeafsFanForever1974 Hey! Thanks for leaving your kind response. Yes I definitely agree with you that ASL is one of the best languages Deaf people have ever had. Thanks!
