  • One question for the high speed sync. Lets say we are shooting at 1/8000 in high speed sync mode. Why does the speedlite have to fire small bursts instead of one calculated flash last for the whole 1/8000 like it does for 1/250 in normal sync?

  • @rocboy2006 The best answer comes from Mark Wallace on the PocketWizard Website.

Short answer, the type of shutter used in DSLR cameras that have an optical viewing system puts the shutter in the way of the image pick up at speeds above the rated X-sync speed.

  • i really need help...i have a canon flash with the high sync speed fuction...but as soon as i take it off camera ..i have the black stripe issue..is it because of my remotes? how can i high sync an off camera flash? do i really need to buy one of thoese xpensive pocket wisards?

  • These guys are awesome. Thanks

  • I would really like to know how to control the output of the flash. I use a D700 with TT5 and mini with an SB-900. I use a softbox to soften the flash and shadows, but It sometimes blows my image way out.

The only thing I have found to help me is to either decrease shutter or lower f stops. ISO is something I use to adjust also. Please help pocket wizard experts.

    Thanks

  • @equine designs: shoot it in full manual mode mate and you can't go wrong.

  • am I correct in thinking the flash does not detect the distance from the subject, therefore you need to take a metre reading when you position your light.s I

is this why you shot at 5.6. i am a little confused as when I tried this some shots were blown out. I have a 7d and have to set it on Tv in order to change the speed. Am I missing something. what am I doing wrong???thanks
