Best Job in the World - wrongly rejected submission video

Here is my application video for the "Best Job in the World" contest. I am so proud of this video and I'm positive I would have made the Top 50 short-listed applicants. I submitted it two days early to make sure I would have enough time to be notified if anything was wrong, and also to give myself enough time to prepare it to the best of my ability. Tourism Queensland notified me 2 HOURS AFTER the deadline that my video was over 60 seconds.. It isn't; it is exactly 60 seconds long. But after the magical process of uploading to YouTube, it somehow rounded up or added one second, disqualifying my application. I explain it all fully in my blog at bearshoe.blogspot.com. I contacted them multiple times to rectify the situation and got the auto form-letter response. I was super disappointed but took the time to get over it - literally one of the most disappointing moments of my life. But I get that feeling, ya know, like someone's telling me I wasn't supposed to get it...so I'm over it and moving on with the lessons I learned creating it!

I am posting this now, not for pity or anything else like that - but just because I AM so proud of it and I did work so hard on it, that I thought it'd be such a shame for all my hard work to go to waste! So - enjoy!

FYI, if you don't know much about the contest - basically its one of those once-in-a-lifetime dream jobs. $100,000 for 6 months "work" as the Caretaker of the Great Barrier Reef. Basically you're a glorified tourist and have to experience all you can and blog about it to promote tourism to this beautiful area. Talk about right up my alley, eh? Ah well, I have a pretty amazing life anyways - I'm over it! Enjoy the vid!
