Phylbert is a little gray squirrel that came to the Orphanage the fourth of July weekend. He'd been hanging around under a bird feeder since the family went away for the weekend. He'd been brought home by their dog. Phylbert was about 5 weeks old and had a broken back leg. The vet was unable to help him so I just nursed him here at the Orphanage.
He went on his "first day of school" on September 2nd like everybody else in the Village. He's spent a day or two off exploring but returns each evening now for his treats and to jump on my head. He's getting better at jumping, he misses sometimes when he aims for my leg. He likes it under the apple trees -- that's where his little cage is.
Today I heard him screaming for me ... there were about 3 or 4 jays of some type bothering him in the apple tree. He was NOT a happy camper about that so I told them to leave him alone. And they left. This video was taken after he came down from the apple tree from that adventure.
Best of everything to you from now on Phylbert. Enjoy your Big Adventure. And thanks for visiting with me so I don't worry about you!
Love the video of Phylbert. He looks like he is doing well and no evidence of leg problems. I'll pray that he lives a happy and healthy life in your apple trees, mom. M.S.
