Above average tires can create more than enough sideways static friction to flip a car over. This is why SUV are so prone to rolling over when the driver swerves too severely. Cars too can flip over on level ground.

We were gonna add the part where Clarkson says he'll be doing twice the speed it would normally take to stop within that distance, but it just didnt' really fit :(
