@SmartyJones93 Because Kent pulled him up, and BB did not cross the finish line, automatically results in a "Did Not Finish". A horse doesn't have to fall (or be injured) to qualify as a DNF.

Actually, taylor6807 is right about the injury. Though everyone wanted a reason for BB's poor performance, no injury was ever noticed, beyond the quarter crack that everyone already knew about of course. One picture of the Belmont revealed that the shoe on his right hind leg had come loose during the race, but it did not come off and was pushed back in as BB ran. I don't know why the Haskell program lists the Belmont as a DNF since BB clearly came in last having been pulled up by Kent. Weird.

sorry, but the Belmont was not a DNF. he was not injured in the Belmont.
Oh, but I'm also sorry. It was. I have a program from the day he raced and won the Haskell Invitationals AFTER Belmont. So, in the program, it shows their race history. Belmont=DNF
