Here are two sound clips of the Borla cat-back exhaust on my 2007 Infinit G35S 6MT sedan. One taken from the side, another from the rear (some wind/mic artifacts). This exhaust is T-304 stainless steel throughout, 2.5" diameter mandrel-bent pipe, and substitutes an H-pipe for the stock Y-pipe center configuration. Only the muffler tips are polished.

Note: I did have some fitment issues. Borla labels this exhaust for MY2008. My understanding is that 2007/2008 G35's are nearly identical though. The issues were flange holes for the cat attachment were spaced too close (required boring out) and the exhaust was 1" too long--including all hanger support locations.

The sound quality from my Fuji digicam is fairly accurate--especially compared to other digital cameras. The exhaust has a nice low tone at low rpm and is higher pitched as rpm's increase. There is a midrange pitched hum (drone) at highway cruising speeds but it is not very loud. The car is fully warmed up and idle sound is true.

I bought my exhaust for about $1200 shipped.

Install: 5/10 (fitment issues)
Quality: 9/10 (quality clamps, 304SS)
Sound: 9/10 (mild drone)
Power: 8/10 (~15hp+ claimed?)

  • Do any magnaflow kits fit on the sedans? Or would that have to be custom fit? I have a 08' G35x. Trying to choose between Magnaflow, Borla, or stillen

  • @dail23 - Magnaflow does not have a kit. Others have gone custom with their mufflers, resonators and cross pipe. Be careful with the X, some kits are NOT compatible as the pipe will bang against the transfer case just behind the cats. I would double check any kit to make sure they fit the x. I know Fast Intentions makes one specifically for the X.

  • how loud if the exhaust itself? meaning can you have a conversation with a passenger with this exhaust? and what's the difference with the stock one?

  • @woostar88 - not that loud in-cabin with very modest drone at highway speed with throttle. Overall, it is louder and deeper sounding than stock. It eliminates the restriction of the stock Y pipe in the exhaust and is a true dual H-pipe exhaust. Some would argue that an X-pipe configuration is better but both will have gains over stock.

  • car looks great i have an 07 g35s as well and want to put the M45 rims on it. Any fitment issues?

  • @snchell7 - I am riding on Eibach springs with F/R camber kits. The M45 offsets are slightly more conservative than even stock rims, so I had to put 15mm Ichiba V2 spacers on there. It looks great without being aftermarket flashy and I get complements all the time.
