puntod (baby's tomb)

Baby is a ten year old deaf mute who was born amidst the stench of poverty. Destitution was her first teacher The cruel realities of life were manifested to her through her gift of sight Babys sister was a prostitute Snatching was her young friends means of livelihood and sniffing rugby was their favorite pastime.




But Babys saw all these through the eyes of an innocent child.using her eyes as her guide, Baby swam the murky waters of Manila Bay gathering plastic bottles and empty cans to save enough to fulfill her only goal in life to pay for a tomb to put her mothers bones in. And while she worked to accomplish this dream Baby kept her mothers bones hidden in the only place she knew it would be safe.




Meanwhile, Baby saved every centavo she could buy her mother a decent resting place. With her health compromised, two of her friends decided to help Baby speed up the fulfillment of her dream. One of them loses his life the other forever scarred with the loss of a friend.

Babys Tomb is a picture of Philippine poverty where social injustice looms its ugly head over the under privileged who live and die knowing hunger, deprivation and hopelessness.

Apolinario is one of those ballsy directors.. people need to see these kind of films..

i mean, it might lead o mainstream movies such as films produced by Star Cinema, Gma, and Viva, to be actually good. and i mean very good..

we could also have gripping mainstream films.. directors just has to put edgier touches in their films.

i wish someday, a director of mainstream films would change philippine cinema.

PUNTOD has recieved 10 nominations in PMPC star awards for movies 2010,

best digital film, director, production design, musical score, cinematography, child actress patricia gayod, new movie actress barbiew forteza, editing, screenplay, and sound design.
