  • i'm with you there.1972 was the first time for me & i was hooked.i've just got the latest cd 'time out' and i still get a great buzz listining to that band with buddy.great to still hear new recordings after 22 years after his loss.

RIP BUDDY & THE BIG BAND ERA!

  • Unusual to see a Buddy Rich band with one of dem coloured fellas...Is it Count Basie?

  • Andy Fusco .... greatest lead alto ever .... liquid fire!

And those British sound engineers ... genius .... great big band mix! ...

It doesn't get any better than this ......

  • andy fusco the alto player is my sax teacher he is brilliant

  • Tpt solo is Bob Doll, from the last Stan Kenton band. Bari solo is Bob Mintzer. Arrangement is usually a tenor solo in that place. They were trying to get Mintzer some more solo space.

  • if buddy had drummed in in the mood ot would have been the PERFECT jazz song

  • Thanks for sharing the video but I must take issue with you in your suggestion that the Big Band Era is dead. It is certainly alive and well in England. Just check out the wonderful band led by the UK's greatest living drummer, PETE CATER.

  • Actually he didn't cancell the entire tour, but refused to play South Africa because they told Buddy that they didn't want Ben Brown, B's bass player at the time, to play with him there.

Buddy refused to play the S. Africa gig, and that was that ~

  • Something about,ALL Buddy 's videos / playing from ENGLAND... HE MUST REALLY LIKE IT THERE ,JUST SHREDS MERCILESSLY AND W/ RARE PRECISION .....

  • Relentless, pure music! The one and only BR! Re."coloured fellas" comment, Buddy once cancelled an entire tour way back when it became an "issue" with a promotor that he had a coloured bass player in his band.

  • "Whot eez jazz???"

    lol

  • He's such a badass... a demon in the flesh! One of a kind.
