Kidney for Kevin

My brother Kevin has been on the kidney transplant waiting list for 3 years, with no results. The best hope he has to live out a normal life span is to receive the gift of life from a live kidney donor. Live donations are far more successful than transplants from cadavers.

Kevin is now in acute renal failure. It is imperative that a live donor is found, quickly! I'm so sorry that your brother has had to endure such a long wait Pam, I hope he gets the kidney he so urgently needs....  this video is also valuable as i'm sure not everyone knows that they only need one of their kidneys to live and can donate one quite safely.

A thought provoking video, Pam. Never knew your brother was on the waiting list, and that has to be tough, hoping, waiting, and never knowing when or if.

There aren't enough, plain and simply, and so little we can do, other than encouraging people to become donors, and even then, it's unknown. Me, I've been signed as a donor for years, but the hitch is that I'm trying to live long enough to use everything up. Unless I get hit by a truck, it'll still be a long time, I hope. Not too helpful...

@anmoose Thank you moosie! So nice of you to watch & comment! I hope you live long enough to wear those donors out but the amazing thing about kidneys-a healthy person only needs one to survive! ;) Not sure about moose though...

Thanks for creating this video. It has great content and even a greater message.  I hope your brother is doing well. My wife is also waiting for kidney transplant surgery. I have been through the living donor exam process but unfortunately not a good match. We are hoping to share/swap my good kidney to someone so she can get one, hopefully sooner than later. Her friends are going through the examinations now, we hope one matches. If so, I'll still be a donor to someone.

This is so sad. I hope that your brother gets a kidney soon. I don't believe my kidneys would be any good for transplant because i am an insulin dependent diabetic.
