Columbia Television and Lexington Broadcast Services (now owned by Fremantle Media) had a joint venture in the 1980's called Colex Enterprises. That company bought a lot of Paramount Bob Hope movies. The company didn't last long, so Sony and Fremantle Media now share rights to those movies.
This variation of the movie version of this torchlady lasted from 1981 to 1987, not 88. It was until Tristar and Columbia merged into Columbia Pictures Entertainment.
Yes, I know that when the logo itself was used actually until June 1993 (the film version, the TV logo changed in the fall of 1992) but I should of said that was the 1981-1988 variation of the movie version of the 80's Torch Lady.
Yes the film was The Great Lover and originally released through Paramount. There is no mention of Columbia Pictures on the IMDB entry for this, so I am not sure why the 1981-1988 Columbia Pictures logo is on this print of the film unless they acquired it during or before the 1980's.

It probably would be if Sony did acquire the rights to 'The Great Lover,' knowing how plaster-insane they are and all that stuff.

I bet if this was released today, this ident would be replaced with the Sony Television Distribution logo, no?
