@NSwisher15721 In my town a 16 year old girl was raped and left for dead by 5 people 3-4 years ago. 2 of them went missing, and one of them hanged himself in two weeks, and the other two started to become paranoid and also went missing 2 years ago. For me this is a real Higurashi-type story :D

@emeraldhunter1 Woah. o_O That's creepy. Especially because I just found out that Hinamizawa is based off a real village called Shirakawa. The way it looks in the anime is almost the exact same layout of in real life. o_O

Actually, hallucinating that you have bugs under your skin exist, it's called formication. Scratching out your own throat with your nails is also possible I think.

And just like the Hinamizawa Syndrome, too much stress can cause extreme paranoia, the paranoia gives you more stress that can be harmful for your nerves and this may cause hallucinations and delusions. And theese kind of things can make people commit murders ._.
