I wished I had all this agility. I can't sing quick coloraturas, so all I can do is sit back and apreciate the beauty and the awesomeness of singers like Cecilia Bartoli. Because that's the best words I found to describe it: awesome.

This is absolutely mind-blowing. Vocal gymnastics that seems impossible in the human voice.

@willthebest1 her trills are the best!

She is always amazing. Saw here here in Philadelphia and she knocked everyone out......INCRECIBLE

I wish Bartoli had dubbed for the 1993 film Farinelli; about the most famous castrato of them all. They combined the voices of soprano Ewa Godleska & Derek Lee Ragin instead. Bartoli in the early half of the 90's wasn't yet internationally recognized; her professional career was just beginning to take off (by the late 90s she was famous). She has been singing opera since the age of 8. She has a great voice, is an intelligent artist and a fun, lovely humble person !

it gives me shivers every time I hear it, I am a classically trained singer myself and can not even imagine the possibility to ever sing this like Cecilia does, her voice and ability, in my opinion is the very best there is, she outsings all the great ones in my opinion.
I have the CD and this piece is not included, how come?

We're the Castrati known for their vocal gymnastics?

And then some! Of course they were known for their vocal gymnastics, and their huge vocal ranges and singing roles with very bifurcated tessituras.

I'm a counter tenor, and though I have the supposed range of a Castrato, I don't quite have the agility, they were meant to be able to do vocal back-flips xD listen to her sing agitata da due venti, that was the kind of things that they were expected to sing easily, I can say from experience its incredibly hard to do xD

Their vocal cords were the size of that of a child, which allowed for inhuman agility!
