I've been playing with a Jitterbug cell phone, to help teach it to a relative, who has received it (note that this video was recorded prior to the reception). I love the Jitterbug but the service is too limiting, and too basic ,for someone of my generation. For those of you who don't know, I am on Verizon, and I need a new phone ASAP. What is the closest thing to the Jitterbug that Verizon offers?

  • Motorola v710 ridiculously simple yet has calender txt nd fonts

  • The V710 is not even available anymore. lol

  • the droid. its a good phone. you can do anything with it

  • I've decided the required data plan isn't worth it, I'm in WiFi 90% of the time.

  • Your best bet in my opinion is Cricket. Just find out if they have coverage in your local area and at your vacation spot as well all plans are unlimited as i said in my video response. You also see if they can reprogram you current verizon phone it work on thier network Verizon is CDMA and so is cricket.

  • We could see, but I think it'd be easier on the family if we all went, and I think in that instance the family plans are about the same, if I remember correctly from your video.

  • I like this video. I though it was well presented. As Always yer videos and very educational, informative, and a pleasure to listen to. I learned a lot. I knew a little about the jitterbug, as their is an older gentleman that I know that uses one. It is user friendly if you have low vision. Initially this gentleman did. Now however He is totally blind. Recently he just got the newer jitterbug that does have a speech capacity to it. He is very pleased. Good Video. Keep-em coming!

  • The droid is NOT very accessibility friendly. The keyboard is very flat and non-tactile, the "screen reader" does NOT work with many of the features, and the data plan is WAY to expensive.

  • If you want a basic phone with great service, try boostmobile, you get unlimited everything, and walkie takie for $50 a month and you can make the fonts bigger on thier phones too. but i would imagine that you can unlock jb on verizon. hope you find a phone man take care.

  • iPhone 3GS. Lots of features for your needs.

  • As far as features they are all the same it just a defferemce of how many phones you need. What I like is that everything is totaly unlimited. I looked into verizon's plans and man they are very expensive. If you were to stay with a major carrier but still leave At&t I would choose sprint. I am still undecided cause At&t just got lots of new cool phones for the holidays and there are some that I like. We will see.
