  • Hi, I'm the dad who wrote this song for my little girl when she was 3 years old back in 1965. You guys do a terrific job on it! And I love that new ending you put on it! Who did that arranging?

    Norm Starks

  • @nlstarks Thanks Norm! The barbershop version was arranged by Mac Huff (who I have a feeling you know), but we actually took the ending from the Boston Common when they sang it back in the late 70's. Thank you for producing this beautiful song. The 4 members of our quartet have 11 kids and 2 grandkids, and we sang this arrangement at our Bass' daughter's wedding, so you can imagine how the message of the song really hit home for us. Glad you were able to find it.

  • Very smooth guys! Enjoyed the little girl wispering in the foreground. Very fitting :o)

  • Ha, thanks. That was actually my 3-year-old son doing the whispering, but you know, they all sound the same at that age...

  • Oh, yes, Mac and I were very close friends and fellow barbershoppers back in the 60's, 70's and 80's in Evansville, IN. I moved to Wisconsin in 1987, and, unfortunately, Mac passed away in the 1990's, a big loss to barbershopping. I had a quartet sing "Little Girl" at my daughter's wedding (the one I wrote the song for when she was 3). Nearly the whole church was in tears! :)

  • well not when she was born, but when she was little! lol

  • My dad wrote this song when my sister was born....thank you for posting!!!!
