My entry for the Drums part of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra contest.

The drums are electronic with all Pintech Concertcast pads, AD kick tower, Yamaha DTXpress module, and Sabian cymbals. Output is via a set of speakers connected to the module, then recorded with the mic on my camcorder. The cymbals are acoustic with foam dampening pads on them to bring the volume down.

  • Do you have real cymbals on a electronic kit?

  • Yup.. the DTXpress cymbal sounds aren't very good, but the acoustic cymbals were way too loud compared to the electronic drums. I had to use rubber pads on the cymbals so they wouldn't overpower the little speakers I was using for the drums.

  • 79 ratings and still only 1 star.. why even bother if you're only going to give me one star? there's no way I'm going to win. lol

  • I appreciate all the comments. I know the sound quality could have been a lot better but I had to use what I had, soo... Oh well, best of luck to everyone who entered :)

  • love the lights, good work

  • Wheres the blast beats?

  • I used the DTXpress in my video as well. The way I got decent audio was by recording the drums separately from the music track. I then mixed the drums with the TSO mp3 in my editing software and the result is not too bad.

Nice job. I especially like the festive lighting. Check out my vid if you get a chance.

  • NICE ENTRY - and don't worry about the view count and ratings so much. When Atlantic moved the end date for the contest - they also changed the judging rules. Judging will be done by JUDGES - not YouTube

  • Nice! You anticipate the beat in a few places...but they are the right places. Good solid playing

  • Good! And you antisipate (sp?) the beat here and there in just the right places. Good, solid playing.

  • too bad not everyone judges based on technical acuity and skill... i think you did a good job.
