Ma quand l'opera fu giocata a Parigi, in A819 poi 1824, si è pensato che il gusto francese era piuttosto alle soprano. Allora fu trasposta per soprano lirico spinto. Avete ragione tutti due !... Ecco.

@emerson4vet @lck0fcolor That's true - this piece was written for a mezzo. There are coloratura mezzos and lots of music in that repertoire. Also, back in the '90s, when this was recorded, they were looser with the styles and didn't always do everything historically correct, the way it's done now. I think she does a nice job with the aria and I think the best singers of this piece are mezzos.

@Emerson4Vet this piece was intended for mezzos. many mezzos do this piece very well. style and voice part are two different things. just because one mezzo didn't get the style quite right doesn't mezzos shouldn't do the piece. joyce didonato is one example of a mezzo that does this piece very well. check her out (:

Great job, but why is a mezzo doing a coloratura piece? Sure, she's got the notes......wrong style though.
