The six-passenger SpaceShipTwo owned by an
offshoot of Virgin Group fired its rocket engine in flight for
the first time on Monday.

The Virgin Galactic vessel broke the speed of sound reaching a supersonic speed of Mach 1.2 as its engines burned for 16 seconds.
