https://www.facebook.com/TheRPGFanatic Review for Final Fantasy Tactics (1997) for the PS1, by Square.

How I review games:
I do not use a rating system. I think rating systems are silly.
Unlike many game reviewers I try to review a game from the perspective of who I believe the target audience of the game is supposed to be.

If I personally don't belong to the target audience for the game I'm reviewing, I try to consider if the intended target audience would enjoy the game or not.

  • How does the 'war of the lions' remake stack up to the original, in your opinion?

  • @LPN00b I haven't played it myself, but from my understanding it fixes a lot of the translation issues and offers some new classes that I approve of! Dark Knight Ramza is an awesome concept!

  • one of the best games ever made...but you gave the story away...tisk tisk

  • @MACKMAN10000 How story ends is pretty much known to the player from the start of the game because of the narrator. I summarized the plot, but the plot has multiple arcs. There is a lot I didn't cover.

  • I adore this game, and this is a great review. I disagree about one thing, though. I find the battles not to be so difficult, and never needed to grind to beat them. You probably just weren't properly prepared job-wise, item-wise, or didn't have a good enough strategy for the maps you got stuck at.

One neat thing... the "move-find item" thing really REALLY reminds me of the hidden items and towns in Ogre Battle. I never REALLY noticed that until you pointed out the move-find item ability.

  • @DemonmachinE Well sure, if you're prepared for the battles they can be very easy. My point is that you need to prepare for them and the only way to do that is to have a strategy guide or grind your characters to be higher lv than the enemies.

  • Just got the PSP version of this game, looking forward to playing it!

  • NOW THIS IS A GAME! Top 5 of alltime IMO! :)

  • this is my all time favorite rpg, then its breath of fire three, what i love most about this games is the extra content in chapter 4, and everything is purrfect in my opinion....love this game

  • @LPN00b theres also 2 new characters. i beat the original an then had to buy the war of the lions because of the new jobs available and the new characters, love both of em. oh an if your planning on getting cloud. he's awesome. but he sucks major balls in tactics. even after you get his sword. it sucks

  • @TheRpgFanatic - I'm curious about your opinion on Arc the Lad 1and 2.

  • I recall that I beat that battle by having one char as bait and all the rest with decent to high speed. Given the AI, enemies often get attracted to things that gets killed easily so yea. Lost the guy but eh, at least I progressed without replaying a week XD

  • This is one of my favorite games of all time and I feel that it went largely unplayed by a lot of fans of the genre due to the fact it was overshadowed by FFVII since they were released about the same time. (Of course including Cloud was a fan-service especially since he's basically a useless character.) My only real complaint about the game is that it becomes embarrassingly easy after you get T.G. Cid, who is way too overpowered.

I Saw Your Review Before Playing The Game, And Although Your Review Was Great&Hilarious, I Thought The Game Would Be Difficult And Have A Bunch Of Fake Difficulty(Roof). However W/ Proper Character Development, Even Without Guides Or Grinding, The Game Is Quite Easy(Still Fun & A Great Story Ofcourse). Using Save States On An Emulator Just In Case Is A Boon, Albeit The Only Battle I Lost Once Was The 1v1 Against Wiegraf,& With A Couple Simple Tweaks( I.e Hp Restore) Its NP.
