@manhenk , I think maybe the problem is that you have only the waveform card. (it's the pink one, right?). It goes into the waveform slot. For playing th sounds, you will need also the Data card. Anyway you can still use the excelent waveforms included on the wave card (lots of drums, brasse and synths). Just explore any internal voice, edit it and change the waveform selecting one of the cards. luck

@acaruso36 haha, the floppy disc belt, just had to replace it also, it was horribly sticky. But after cleaning it I fixed it. (It is easy to do, just a lot of screws, but simple) BTW I think I got a great bargain. 137 Euro for the SY77, great condition. Including speakers and a Keyboardstand. Holding thumbs for your repair. The other Synthesizer I have is a Kawai K1II and maybe I should get me a Korg also?! hmm. Keep in touch!

@acaruso36 Hwen I got it, the LED backlight on the LCD display was not working. THe Floppy drive wasnt working either. Though I have done the BLue dipsplay modification and installed a new floppydrive that makes the synth complete again. Both the floppy drive and the display are much better then the original parts. :)
hi there,
can you help me out, possibly? I bought a waveformcard
W7751 Rock & Pop. I inserted it into the SY77 and guess what.. it didn´t work.
Do you know if there is an internal battery inside? and if so, how can you replace it?
Would be great to hear from you.
THANK YOU!!

@manhenk Sorry no experience with these type of Wave Form Cards. I do used a sound/patch card once in a while. There is a battery that is used for retaining internal memory. I don't know if a dead battery would cause a waveform card not to work inside the yamaha SY77. Check out ebay.com for a seller that sells parts for your Sy77. Thats what i did. Its pretty simple to open the bottom end of the synth and replace batteries and disk drives and disk drive belts. just do a search on ebay.

@manhenk Hey Thanks Much... I didn't think this demo was my best or song for that matter. Just wanted to show how lush this synth can sound with the right programing. Glad you liked it! Anyway, I checked out Jean-Michel Jarre he's amazing.

@acaruso36 I am so glad I just bought a SY77 though I am a complete novice, I hope to be able to play as good as you some time. The song is onlydone with the SY77? Or did you have any extra sounds? Man this tune is so fantastic, spacial, tension.. wow.. gives me a shiver.
And yes, check out more of Jean-Michel Jarre, he has lots of great synthesizer songs/tunes. You will love the older stuff from the albums, Oxygene, Equinoxe, Magnetic Fields, Zoolook. Just sit back and enjoy!!
