This is a basic review and overview of the Lakland "Duck" Dunn bass. It is the from the Skyline signature signature bass series made in Korea but designed in the USA. This video shows the parts of the bass and then I play a series of different grooves and feels so you can get an idea what the bass would sound like for your style of music.

  • I agree with the poster that this review of the "sound" is of little relevance given that you've changed the pickups. You can discuss the feel and construction of the bass, but the sound samples are not indicative of the stock Lakland pickups (which are great by the way).

  • @TheSteelChops Stock pickups were fine. I should have left them in. Thought I wanted more output. Not sure how far in the end I ended up being away from the original bass sound and tone. If I had thought about it more at the time, I should have done the review of the bass with stock pickups first. Then just for kicks done the pickup switch. Hind sight is always 20/20. Of course, really the video was done to entice someone to buy it on Ebay. That worked.

  • LAKLAND has a HARD A as in LAKE-LAND. I called Lakland and they informed me that I am correct and I'd rathert call the bass what it is. G'Day.

  • @Pinstripedtie Yeah, I know. I've been corrected several times for mispronouncing it. That's what I get for listening to a salesguy at GC who I first heard the name from.

  • i detect a hint of enter sandman

  • @weathered79 Yeah. Guilty.

  • You *do* know that the manufacturer is pronounced LAKE-land, hence the "long-A" bar above the first "a" on the headstock, right? That said, I would trade a kidney for that gorgeous bass. Are you open to such trades?

  • I've got this one! It plays wonderfully.

  • Love that raw vingtage 60's P bass tone!.......GREAT IN THE POCKET PLAYING,DRUMMERS LOVE THIS GUY

  • @andrssxbassplayer The amp is a markbass little mark ii. The cabinet is an Ampeg 610.

  • Come on, you gotta do the Duck Dunn head bobbing while you play

  • Is this model still made?

  • what lakland model does geezer butler out of black sabbath use?

  • very lakluster playing, should've sprung for the american bass so you would've at least looked good.

  • I appreciate the demo of the bass. I'm a jazz bass guy, but I can't disregard the need for a P anymore. I own Fender J's but I'm tired of Fender's actions lately in regards to price hikes, short changing quality, and the LACK OF COLORS! So Lakland is probably going to get my money from now on!
