Good vs. Evil. Frank Turek, author of "I Don't Have Enough Faith To Be An Atheist," explains the concept of good vs. evil and how the distinction points to a higher standard. How do we understand injustice, without a notion of justice? How do we know a crooked line, without a concept of straight?
Frank Turek is founder of Cross Examined, which gives evidence for the questions of Truth, God, Miracles, and the Bible. For more information, check out http://www.CrossExamined.org

A virtuous person is not...one who undertakes the impossible task of striving for the GOOD and eliminating the BAD, but rather one who is able to maintain a dynamic balance between the two.

How fucking DARE he stand there in front of that horrific picture of dead jewish corpses spouting on about how people's opinions don't matter. Is he honestly too dumb to realize that the content of that picture is EXACTLY the result of the same hateful belief?? How can anyone be so completely devoid of any sensitivity. Please for the sake of human decency take this video down!

@Chessiere Good and Evil are defined things you can also say there is no number 1 or mathematics because it is found by humans but it is compatible with reality and than it doesnt matter what you think of the descent of the words or phenomens... call it how you want believe what you want on it's descent but still it reflects the reality... so you can say there is evil and good.

All notions of value are notions what we have created. There are values that we hold more in common than others. There would be no moral debate if indeed there were a common "standard".
Abstract notions are NOT direct comparisons to real things. I am not sure whether Turek is just dishonest or doesn't actually understand the issues inherent in his arguments...

Good and Evil do not exist. These are just mere creations of the human society in order to keep order, mainly constructed by those who are actually in power, so that the people are easier to control.
The same goes for right and wrong, they're relative, a culture could view theft or assassination as good, while helping someone as bad, while we do the opposite. It is just standards set by a society, none of this really exists, they're just a means of control.

in another video turek says that morality can't come from chemical reactions in the brain so it has to come from god. but thoughts and can vary our standard of morality. it has changed throughout time. and if god gave us a sense to differ between good and eviel, why doesn't it apply to all people everywhere at all times?

Objective morality is not necessarily tied to a God, there are standards independent of hypothetical beings and personal opinions. Just ask yourself: what is the purpose of morality? Why do humans and social animals practice moral behaviour? Are these actions fufilling the purpose of morality? The whole it's either God or personal opinion bit is a false dilema. Did he even try to think from an atheist's point of veiw?
