Any loan requires some sort of security..the word "bond" is a clue, will we ever now what securities or guarantees were offered by Anglo or the Gov of the time. Otherwise the bonds would never have been secured. How about chasing down the assets of those who borrowed form Anglo and then declared bankruptcy ..those who say " ah the hotel or shopping centre..thats in the wife's name". If they dealt drugs CAB would be involved.. steal money...no problem the taxpayer will cover it

@cogybear you might inform Occupy Galway members of that

Anglo would pay the money back but they don't have any you idiot. Do you actually know anything about the crisis! The government doesn't purposely was to screw us it's just what has to be done! We need do get over it and slug it out. Stop complaining about something that happened 3 years ago and accept this is our only way out

@dan15mcl I think what the video is saying is not that Anglo should pay the debt but that it is not the obligation of the Irish tax payer to pay unsecured speculative debts incurred by nameless bondholders... this seems to me to be a reasonable stance... I don't accept your argument that this is our only way out... in fact I believe even the IMF are encouraging us not to pay this one!! But I've no problem with you paying a portion I'd just rather put my taxes into other areas....:-)
