Hi, this is Larry Hobbs @ FatNews.com.

"I thought I was low thyroid," says Mark Starr, MD.

"I was a pain doctor, an MD, and my concentration was going, I was tired, my skin was dry, my muscles ached, I was cold intolerant—the probem runs in my family. An yet, at my university where I trained, my blood tests were normal, and the endocrinologist assured me that [my thyroid was fine, and that] I was working too hard."

Here is a short audio clip of Dr. Starr talking about this in a speech he gave at a 2007 Orthomolecular Conference.

------

My research shows that many chronic illnesses including heart disease, obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, mental illnesses, Alzheimer's disease, and the explosion of childhood illnesses are largely attributable to Type 2 hypothyroidism.

Type 1 Hypothyroidism is defined as failure of the thyroid gland to produce sufficient amounts of necessary to maintain normal blood levels of those hormones and normal blood levels of the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH).

Type 2 Hypothyroidism is defined as [a] resistance to thyroid hormones at the cellular level.

[In Type 2 hypothyroidism,] Normal amounts of thyroid hormones and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) are detected by the blood tests therefore, blood tests do not detect Type 2 hypothyroidism.
