  • Fantastic! I have been fascinated by the Poldo Tackle for years, but like you have not found a practical application. One thing I thought of was it would be useful to tight a clothesline with. If you find out anything, please let me know.

  • Hi Shaneh2727 - Thanks for taking a look at the video and subscribing to our channel!

Angi (she's the one filming and editing the knots vids) has come up with a few ideas for it around the boat, but the trouble so far is we haven't figured out an application where it's the BEST choice.

Funnily enough, considering Angi isn't a knot-person at all, she's become hooked on the Poldo and is feeling compelled to find a use for it!

We'll definitely let you know if we come up with anything :)

  • The problem with this version is that it's just an adjustable loop. If you make one of the bowlines a butterfly knot instead (which can handle tension on both standing ends), you get a line with a 100% secure adjustable loop on the end. This can be used as a ratcheting mechanism to tighten something down to a car roof for example.

  • I'm not a sailor, or much of a knot person, but that looks IDENTICAL to adjustable straps I've seen (like guitar straps, etc.). Not sure how that could help you on a boat, but thought I'd make the comment.

  • I just pondered on this knot compound. What it actually creates is a sort of a closed double pulley construction, which is great for moving/lifting heavy objects as it cuts the required force to half.
