I used to work with Marc Adler, at his dad's company, back in 2000. I do believe the sad comments about this film although i havent put my eyes through the torture of viewing it.

I loved the environments, creatures, and the animation was okay (I'm a fan of ReBoot Season Three, so I'm not picking nits for newcomer animations).
I know there were problems with the comedy relief and such, but it was entertaining. And I do see this becoming a cult classic in due time.
It is indeed a hugely sad case...
