Oscar nominations are in! As with every year, there's a vocal chorus praising surprises and shaking their heads over snubs.
While many expected silent film The Artist to walk away with the most nominations, it was Martin Scorsese's Hugo that earned the top spot, taking 11 nominations to The Artist?s 10. Gary Oldman's performance in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy earned him his first ever Oscar nomination, though the Academy skipped over Leonardo DiCaprio's portrayal of Hoover in J. Edgar.
As for comedies, no best picture nod for Bridesmaids, but the film did garner a best supporting actress nomination for Melissa McCarthy and an original screenplay nomination for Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo. Other standouts include Tree of Life for best picture and probable shoo-in A Seperation, for the foreign-language film category.
Whew! Now we can all take a break for several weeks before the more important "best and worst dressed" nominations are released.
where is alan rickman, you idiots!!

@johnbanks707 Isn't this world just childish these days? Andy is one of a kind and these bastards who think they know movies are too stuck up to give him the credit he deserves. Melissa McCarthy can be funny at times but she is so not Oscar material and neither is a film like Bridesmaids. My Mom watched it and said it was the worst movie she ever watched. Just hearing her explain about the movie itself was enough to make me not want to watch it at all. I still don't get the hype.

@ENRIQUE881 I know what a movie is. Listen, it was just my own opinion. We all have free speech, don't we? If I took it too far I'm sorry.

@ENRIQUE881 It is. I don't know why but it does mean something to get an oscar. I guess it has to do with its history. Because in my opinion, in terms of intelligence put into who gets nominated and who wins, it's really the worst award ceremony on Earth. (just the fact that films that were out too early in the year are completely forgotten...) I usually just watch it for the host.

@ENRIQUE881 Hey man it's just my opinion. I thought the film as a whole was awesome. I didn't expect it to be in the best picture category, but it should have at least gotten a honorable mention. And I advise you to rewatch the last one. Trust me, it has more passion than you think. And also I think the academy overlooked some major performances and movies this year. they need someone on the staff that actually cares about what films need to be nominated.

@ENRIQUE881 Yes I have. It's an incredibly bland movie that wants to be "inspiration" there are WAY better movies out there that deserve nominations. 50/50, Drive, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

@AngelWitch93 Harry potter is ridicioulus, bad story, nothing passion, nothing special to see. Only a comedy. Hugo is a masterpiece, for that reason it got 11 nominations. You have to learn what a movie is
